Foliar Feeds Corn Services 0At EZ Custom Ag we started as a services company in 2019. We knew that the crop dusters were not providing the timely service that our customers needed, and the gallons they were putting on were not sufficient to tackle all the hard-to-treat diseases we face today. We found a solution that helped to fix this problem on our farm and soon neighbors and friends were seeking the same solution. With a high clearance application machine, we were able to apply product on crops at any stage, and with our focus on customer service we could apply products at exactly the right time. We knew to be successful we needed to take the extra time and effort it takes to put on sufficient gallons to do the job. We focus on customer retention not acre bonuses, it isn’t a race to get done first it is a race to get it done right. We continue to do custom application in our local area but have expanded our services into different areas of agriculture.

In 2020 we purchased a cover crop seeder that is attached to our high clearance machine. This allows us to interseed cover crops into standing cash crops, this way the covers are able to get a head start before harvest takes place. The use of cover crops on our farm has helped our soil biology to thrive in the winter months acting as a blanket on the soil to protect it from harsh cold temperatures and in the spring that same soil biology is stimulated when we are planting our cash crop. Planting into a standing crop has been done with airplanes but with low accuracy and with problems having seed getting stuck in the leaves of the cash crop. Our interseeder has drops to get your seed down below the leaves and on the soil where it belongs. For producers that do not want to apply covers to a standing crop, our machine converts to a post-harvest machine making bare soil applications extremely quick and accurate. Often times with a spinner you have uneven spread, but with our air boom you will have an evenly spread product every time.

We have now ventured into the seed industry partnering with Agrigold. When doing this we knew that we needed to be able to supply our customers with the seed solutions that fit their acre. Our custom seed treating service answers that call. We are able to treat or over treat your seed with the products your farm requires. Many companies are now selling corn overtreatments like Environoc ST or Brandt’s Seed Zone Zn. These products can be great at delivering micronutrients or stimulating soil biology to increase yields and ROI. We offer the best fungicide, insecticide, and nematicides on the market to ensure that your valuable seed investment is protected from the pests that can harm your plants during early stages of growth. Our tumble style treater allows for even treatment of every seed and soft handling to prevent splitting and chipping of the seed. We use a premium dry finishing agent to optimize flowability and treatment adhesion. We can treat seed to fit any need including pro-boxes, mini bulks and bulk.

At EZ Custom Ag we focus on each and every customer as an individual and do our best to fit the need of every producer. Being farmers ourselves we understand that not every farm, field or season can fit into one box. We don’t have to meet quotas or play the games that the big co-ops do, we offer great service at a great price, period. We use our in field knowledge and access to a wide array of products to personalize each experience. We look to continue to grow our service profile as time goes on with a focus on soil and tissue sampling.

We use turbo twin jet nozzles during fungicide application to maximize coverage. Getting coverage of the entire plant aids in protecting the plant from leaf diseases. We also use 14 gallons per acre when applying fungicide where most arial rigs will use 2-3 gallons per acre. With more gallons we are able to penetrate deeper into the canopy and protect the most important parts of the plant.

We are able to apply at a width of 120 feet for all of our applications. This allows us to reduce trips over the  field thus reducing crop damage and compaction.

Interseeding cover crops is a great way for you winter covers to get a head start while we still have long days and warm temperatures in the late summer/early fall. Early establishment of cover crops will keep your soil biology active, avoiding the dormant period between harvest and germination. With the drops pictured above we are able to get seed to the soil so it is able to germinate. Having an even stand of cover crop is very important and having a plane seed the road and the neighbors end rows is a waste of your money.

An early establishment of cover crop in the fall can protect your soil biology during the cold winter months. The extra growth that can be added by planting early is invaluable once the days get shorter and the air temperatures cool down. The already established covers can aid in drying soils during a wet harvest and provide support with its extensive root mass.

We are able to apply a wide array of treatments to your seed from insecticides to soil biology promotion products. We ensure even coating of each seed for optimum performance. Making sure that all products are evenly distributed is important to ensure maximum efficacy.

Biological seed treatments can have huge benefits including a more robust root system and earlier nodulation. Helping plants work alongside the existing soil biology can create a synergy that increases yields. We are able to observe massive efficiencies by adding biologicals or micronutrients directly to the seed. The versatility of seed treatments gives options to producers that do not have in-furrow or 2×2 systems on their planter.
