Hey guys, welcome to an earful, the podcast about farming and country life. Zach, what are we doing today?
Well, we’re sitting in the office watching the rain. It’s about all we’ve done all week. It’s been very, very wet.
That’s like 50, 52 degrees or something this morning and the end of January. It’s pretty warm. Yeah,
We’ve had a culture shock. We went from Sub-Zero temperatures to like tropical conditions.
Yeah, it’s uh, made a heck of a mess though, that’s for sure.
Oh yeah. Well, you know, we get that rain right on top of stuff, you know, on top of ground that isn’t completely thawed out from that heart freeze. So you get a lot of, uh, surface water action. Yeah,
Yeah. Trying to move grain in standing water is not a whole lot of fun. So
No, definitely not, but it is just something that happens this time of year every once in a while, and that’s what we’re dealing with now. But, uh, other than that we’re just trying to utilize our bad weather to get some things ready in the shop and, uh, finish up some book work, finish up some, uh, ordering and, uh, just kind of getting ducks in a row for, uh, 24.
Yeah, planters are coming along pretty good. Um, I would say we should be in pretty good shape equipment wise compared to where we normally are. Of course, we can bring both planters in at the same time now with the new shop. And
Yeah, it makes a big difference. Uh, you know, you can actually do something else while you’re waiting on, uh, parts to come in, but, uh, I don’t know. We never like for anything to do around here, so
No, it seems like we’re always, always have something to do, so. Oh,
That’s right. That’s right. So what do we all talk about today, Eve?
Well, I think, uh, I think we should talk about our new program, uh, at Easy Custom Ag called Start to Finish. Uh, we talked about we’re spending a lot of time in the office. Well, we had enough time. We came up with a program, uh, to offer you guys some better deals on some foliar nutrition, some in row stuff. Uh, try to tie some of our best products together and get you guys some results out there. So, yeah,
I would agree. I’d say this kind of fundamentally covers all bases and, um,
I think, would you say it goes from start to finish?
Yeah, I’d say it. Got it. We got you covered from start to finish. See, um, that’s pretty slick there. So, I mean, we tried to get some products in here for guys that, um, you know, weren’t, you know, say if you don’t have liquid on your planter, you know, we’ve got some options for that because we understand that not everybody has an in Forrow program and we understand that a lot of guys good nutrition with sprayer, um, you know, so tried to, tried to get a good product spread in here where we felt like we could kind of cover all bases, uh, with some, uh, liquid nutrition.
So we kind of did this in a three stage approach where, you know, so we’re going pre-plant or at plant depending on what product you’re using. Um, then we go early post. So, you know, when you’re making that, that, uh, residual pass or maybe even the enlist pass and beans, just depending on how your program works, uh, these products will fit most, most programs. We may just move around which product you’re using, um, but we gave it options so it can work on almost any farm. And then the last one kind of goes with that fungicide pass where you’re end reproductive stages, uh, on both corn and soybeans. So we have, uh, what we think to be a pretty solid program. Uh, we’ll kind of go through, go through the products here and, uh, let you guys know what they are and kind of what they’re about. So, Zach, you wanna start?
Yeah, I mean, first, uh, right off the top there, we’ve got Meltdown and, um, you guys have heard us talk about that before. Um, you know, be it on our podcast, our YouTube videos all over our website. We’re a real big fan of Meltdown and what it does and what it’s about. And, uh, getting that tossed in there on a burn down pass to, um, you know, get rid of this, get rid of that stub, wanna start, you know, breaking it down. Uh, we think that’s a very important piece. We’re, you know, we’re trying to recapture the nutrients we’ve left on top of the ground from the previous year’s crop. So we feel that this is a winning product to toss in for, for anybody that’s capable of putting it on. Uh, so this is, this will be our first product that would be in our Start to Finish program, uh, to go on with a three year spread,
Right? So that was one of our options for, uh, non-Pro. So our first stage one, we kind of focused on biology. Um, so Meltdown, you’ve got got your, you know, your breakdown biology. Uh, the second option we had was, uh, BD Bio Cast. So that’s coming from, so Meltdown is the 5 0 1 team of biology from BW Fusion. Uh, BD Bio Cast is the 4 0 1 team of biology, which is what we usually talk about going in furrow. But Bio Cast is their over the top broadcast, uh, solution, right? So when we’re, when we’re looking at this, this is for the guys that don’t have in furrow, uh, this is the 4 0 1 biology with a food source. So it’s able to be broadcast over the top, still survive and still thrive to break down those nutrients. So this is a great, great opportunity for guys, um, that don’t have those infra capabilities.
When, when we have the option, the closer to what we’re trying to do, the better. So, you know, instead of, instead of broadcasting nutrients, we like to put ’em in bands. Okay? So instead of broadcasting your biology like you will with Bio Cast, if you have the option, we would tell you to go in furrow, but if you don’t have the option, this is a very, very close second. So really good product, um, had a lot of guys use it. We’ve actually tried it in two by two before, um, and had some success putting it, you know, we’re two by zero, we’re putting it on top of the ground, but, um, had some success there. It’s close to the row. Uh, been a great product and it’s really good for guys that don’t have, um, don’t have infra capabilities.
Yeah, definitely, definitely. And well, for the guys that do have infra row capabilities, well, you just, you just hold on. We’ve got a product for you and that is Rapids. You know, we we’re just talking about that, that 4 0 1 team of technology, this product’s developed with that, uh, team of tech, team of biology. So we find this to be a, a really good all around product to go in furrow. ’cause I mean, the closer you can get, like Kevin says, the closer you can get to what you’re doing, the better off you are. Well, it doesn’t get any closer than right on top of the sea.
Yeah, it’s, uh, so Rapids is, is formulated by Carolina Eastern Crop Excellence, uh, with the 4 0 1 team of biology, um, actually has vic acid in it and, uh, some plant stimulants as well. So it’s a, it’s a little, what I wanna say, a little bit more complete package than just the 4 0 1, right?
You’re,
You’re buying just 4 0 1 and a jug, um, has a little bit more in it. So that’s the reason we have, uh, transitioned a lot of our growers over to it. Uh, it’s a, it’s a one jug dump that takes care of three jugs that we were dumping, you know, in previous years. And we’re still getting that benefit of the 4 0 1, which we think is a, a great asset to any farm. So any way we can get that 4 0 1 on is a, uh, is a good thing. And that kind of brings me to my last one here. If you say liquid in the springtime is not my thing. I’m not doing any of my burn down. I’m not doing any spraying. I don’t have in furrow, what do you got for me? I say, well, we’ve got Bio Boost. That’s a planter box treatment that is new from BW Fusion this year, and it is Chuck full of everything you could want.
Um, I’m sure you guys have all heard of Hopper Throttle from Maim, and this makes this stuff look like, you know, hopper Turtle, this stuff is, this stuff is loaded up. So let’s, let’s take a look at my notes here. So Bio Boost has, uh, en vioc st, uh, in a dry form. So this is the first time that you’re going to be able to get BW Fusions 4 0 1 in a dry formulation all every time before it’s been liquid. Um, they’ve, they’ve come up with the technology to put it into a dry form, uh, to get it into this planter box treatment. Uh, the base of it is dust, which many of you have seen at farm shows and stuff. It’s ground up soybeans that they’re using as their lubricant. Um, so this is replacing your 80 20 talc, and this is, uh, it’s made with dust.
Um, they have strains of fungi in there that I’m not even going to try to pronounce, um, that will help colonize roots, um, and bring nutrition to your plant. Has powder keg in it, uh, which many of you would know as pixie dust or pixie dust plus. Uh, so PDP is their foliar pixie dust is in furrow and powder keg is what they’re putting on their seed as a seed treatment. So it’s a potassium silicate, I believe is how you pronounce it. And, um, that is also included in this product. Just like many of the other ones on the market. We have zinc. Um, I know Hopper Throttle has zinc in it, uh, seed to grow, used to have zinc in it. Uh, stride Bio has zinc in it. So that seems to be a pretty common thing to try to get that early root development.
We’ve got Kelp, which has a whole laundry list of benefits. And am I missing anything else elses? I don’t think I’m, uh, so it’s just a pretty, pretty strong, uh, planter box treatment. Yes, it comes at a price, but I think for guys that don’t have, uh, in furrow options or their own sprayer to do their, to do their burndown stuff, uh, um, it’s substantially cheaper than the other planter box treatments on the market that try to rival it. So I think it’s definitely one you would wanna look at. You know, maybe even if you’re using the Meltdown, maybe you still look at the, the bio boost, if that, if that fits your situation.
Yeah, for sure. I’m really excited for this one and, um, I’m excited to see what kind of yield results we’re gonna get from it. And, uh, I’d say we’re definitely gonna run some on the farm here this year, and, uh, I think it’ll be pretty good. So kind of moving forward, getting out of that, uh, plan, you know, pre-planned application plan application. Um, so we’re talking about some foliar, uh, the next one we have in our lineup with, uh, in the Start to finish program would be Juice. It is a 3, 3 2, right? So it is, it is quite the complete foliar product. We’re a big fan of Juice. We feel, again, with, with this, with this lineup of products, uh, from acro solutions, we, we feel that we’re combining a lot of jug dumps. We feel that all we do is crack jugs, right, Evan? Yeah. And, uh, so the products we’re able to get from them and handle from them, uh, we’re combining, combining a lot of things that we’re already using. So, uh, this, uh, juice formula is calcium, magnesium, boron, copper, iron, uh, manganese, biostimulants, urea, phosphate, vic acid, and sugar. So if you wanna break down a label from any other foliar product, this one’s, this one’s loaded up. So we’re really excited about Juice. We think this is a good, uh, good foliar option to go on. Go on your post pass.
Yeah. Um, another thing, just, just talking about Agri Crop Solutions, they’re out of Delphis. Um, they’re a new company that, uh, they actually just bought out the, the manufacturing facility up there, uh, in the past, uh, 10, 12 months and started formulating these things. And the thing I like is that they’re kind of an open book. They’ll tell you what’s in there, they’re telling you how they’re making them, and if there’s something that, I mean, you can talk to the people that are formulating them. So, um, we’ve worked very closely with them, have a very good relationship with them. And these products are what are fitting our operation, um, the needs of our growers that we’ve dealt with, the concerns that they’ve had. We’re, we’re checking a lot of those boxes that, you know, guys are saying, oh, the co-op’s coming to me and, you know, they want me to put this on.
I don’t know why. It doesn’t make any sense to me. They won’t tell me what’s in it. It’s a, it’s a plant stimulant. Oh, okay. What, what’s it stimulating? How’s it made? Well, the jug just says non plant food ingredients, a hundred percent. Okay. So yes, that might work, but we have no idea what we’re putting on our plant. And if we don’t get results, uh, wonder why. So with, with, uh, agri Cropp Solutions, we’ve really kind of pulled that curtain back, got to see everything. Yes, Zach used the term bio stimulant. Okay, well, it’s made with Insight, a product that we’ve been dumping that’s got, um, different plant growth hormones in it. Um, you wanna see what’s in it, go look at the jug. Like, it’s,
It’s all there.
They’re very open with it. So I really, I really appreciate that about ’em. Um,
Yeah, I mean, that’s something we don’t get very often in, in ag, especially when it comes to these, uh, foliar products. Well, I mean, a lot of things that we’re buying, um, you know, we just know the job it does. We don’t know why, what or how. Right? And these are the questions we need to be asking when we expect to have different results.
So Juice, um, like Zach said, is a very complete product. Um, it’s probably our, our, it’s, well, it’s definitely our bestseller in the, in the stage two, um, arena, you know, when we’re looking early post its counterpart is two Shea, um, it’s an 8 8 8 2 sulfur. So really, as far as the composition of it, that is the only thing that is different is the NPKS analysis. So we’re adding some sulfur in there. Um, we’re adding those in, in the form of ammonium thiol and potassium thiol. So, you know, we’re not adding a lot of sulfur, but for somebody that might be behind on nutrition a little bit, um, showing some stress, and then you’re wanting that extra sulfur kick, we would move you from juice to Touche. But other than that, the components in it are exactly the same. Um, so I won’t spend a lot of time going into that. I think Zach explained that really well. Um, so we’ll move on to stage three, uh, which is gonna be your fungicide timeframe. Um, as you know, Zach and I are in the, uh, corn fungicide business, and Zoom is our bread and butter. So it’s an 18 one oh <laugh>, uh, 1% sulfur. It’s got Boron vic acid and sugar in it also. Yeah. So it’s a, it’s a complete product. We’ve dumped or we’ve pumped a bunch of it of
Shuttles, thousands and thousands of gallons of this product guys. And we’re, we’re, we’re coming, I mean, all of our custom makers, uh, get this as well as all of our, uh, acres here at home. Um, we find this to be a really good product. We’re using it as a sticker. Now, why a lot of guys don’t get that. They’re always a little bit taken back when we say that. Like, why, why aren’t you using masterlock or this or that and the
Other? Why aren’t you using this petroleum based product that has absolutely no benefit to my plant? Exactly.
So, so once you kind of explain to guys, well, here’s some usually utilizable nitrogen that’s going on in your plant in a time when it is just full steam ahead. Well, guys like that, especially when we can get it on with the gallons that we’re able to put on a coro plant.
Well, and look up the benefits of boron. Oh,
Right, right. I mean, we’re talking reproduction. There you go. So Zoom is a no brainer for us. Um, it’s gonna continue to go on every fungicide acre, every corn fungicide acre for us. Um, you know, we got guys putting it on with the plane tool using as our carrier, um, seeing success with it there, obviously, we’re obviously we talk big smack on the airplane. We like the haggy, uh, for just for the capability of coating that entire plant. But at any rate, zoom is definitely a product you need to consider if you’re going to be making a fungicide application on your <inaudible>.
So, um, it didn’t say here in the beginning, but stage three is where, where the, uh, buy two get half off comes in. So the products in stage three, so Zoom like, uh, we just spoke about, and then shimmy our last product here, uh, both qualify for, uh, half off. So, you know, once you’ve made it to that late in the season, uh, it felt like you’ve already probably seen the results that you’re wanting, but we wanted to keep you going and give you a, give you a good deal on that last shot of last shot of nutrition to your crop. So, like I said, the last thing we’re gonna talk about here is shimmy. Um, and I a lot of times talk about it as a stripped down juice. So it’s a 3 6 6 with two sulfur. It’s kind of a combination of both juice and shimmy or juice and touche because you have, um, a little bit stronger NPK sulfur analysis, but we’ve pulled out a couple of the micronutrients that aren’t necessarily needed that late in the season. Um, and we’ve also pulled out the urea phosphate. So, uh, like I said, it’s a 3 6, 6 2 sulfur, um, with manganese, boron, zinc, copper, and iron. Um, still has fulvic acid in it, still has sugar in it. Um, very good. I would say it would compete with any foliar nutrient on the market today. Uh, we’ve just pulled out some of the, some of the fun things, uh, right,
Well, you’re getting to that time that, that later timeframe, I mean, our plants are asking for different amounts of different nutrients. So where we are getting a strip more of a stripped down product as what you’d be getting with juice. Well, we’ve already surpassed a lot of the needs,
Right? Yeah. We’re just trying to, we, you know, we’ve hung those pods, we’ve held those pods, now we’re just trying to fill ’em. Exactly. So this is a product, you know, we’re putting this on at a gallon the acre. Um, say you’ve got a 16% potassium product that you’ve been using, um, that you’re putting on at Aqua, well now you’re putting a 6% on at a gallon. So you multiply that times four and you’re getting more potassium than you would be to start with. So, um, a lot of guys look at that and they’re like, man, that’s a pretty weak product. Yes. But look at the price and look at the gallon. Exactly. You know, versus a quart, uh, we’re really putting some things out there. And these are in available forms, right? They’re formulating this stuff with very low salt fertilizers, uh, very safe. It’s, it’s good stuff.
Yeah. Yep. And we wouldn’t be bringing it to you guys if we didn’t think it was gonna work and we didn’t think it was a high quality product, because that’s all we wanna handle,
Right? Yeah. I mean, we’re not, we’re not bringing it to you ’cause they sold it to us or ’cause they, they told us to, we’re bringing it to you because we’re using it on our farm. So, um, I think that, I think that’s one of the big differences of us in the co-op. So, um, that kind of sums up our start to finish program, unless you got something.
No, I don’t think I really have anything else, uh, to add. Just, um, again, just wanted to kind of bring you guys a, uh, what we feel is a pretty complete package here, um, a good representation of, of what, what we’re doing on our, on our acres, you know, to, to get through the year. And then also add some products in here that we feel, uh, take care of the guys that aren’t able to hit that in furrow piece, you know, whether they don’t have the capabilities or, uh, don’t believe in it or whatever they, you know, we wanted to make sure we, we covered all bases here and I feel like we’ve done a pretty good job of that. Yep.
