Hey guys, Evan here with EZ Custom Ag, out in the field today, shelling some corn. We’re running AgriGold 645 -16, it’s 115 day, planted in fairly early May. Got a pretty good yield to it, dried down to about 18 .5%. We’re in the mid -200s with it so we’re pretty happy with that.
115 day corn probably could have used another rain towards the end, but mid -200s is not anything to sneeze at, so we will definitely take it. 645 -15 has been kind of a standard in our lineup the past three years, I believe. It’s a really good Family G for us, gives us a little bit of diversity through our lineup.
We plant a lot of Family Fs, but as a Family G it gives us a little bit of diversity, and it has a huge yield punch if you have the right kind of weather. That’s for sure one thing I really like about this hybrid is it has awesome grain quality. It’s probably the goldest horn that we shell It’s just a gorgeous color until I revive this is why they call it AgriGold is because of this hybrid.
Super high -test weight, super hard dense kernel, and that beautiful gold yellow color. In this field today, we’ve actually got a trial of an in-furrow product called Groundworks. I believe it’s a mycorrhizal fungi product. We’re not dealers or anything just something we were trying that somebody had suggested to us. It’s an in-furrow product, so I’ll have to run everything through the computer before I get any date on it, so it’ll be a little while before I give you guys results, but it’ll be interesting to see.
There’s a little bit of color difference early in the year right after planning, but it’ll be interesting to see if that translates to yield, so we’ll be giving you guys a lot of yield results come wintertime when we’re sitting in the office making some decisions running things through the computer, but here in the combine either way, they’re both good corn with and without, so I’m not complaining. Hopefully we can see some results from this stuff.
Like I said, we’ll be giving you guys more results as the winter goes on. Looks like we got another full cart here. We’re sitting Trevor on his way, and we’ll see you guys next time out in the field.
