Hey guys Evan here with EZ Custom Ag today out in the field fueling up the combine getting ready to shell some corn again today.
Today we’re going to be shelling 642-59 from AgriGold. It’s a Family F, one we’ve had in the lineup I believe since 2018 or 2019 and it is one that I hope they keep for a while because it is always consistent, and always a huge hitter for us especially when we get fungicide on it. It is a Family F; which we’ve told you in the past means family fungicide, so that’s its one weakness. It does not like disease pressure, but we got fungicide on it this year.
You can see we had just a little bit of tar spot coming in late, but I don’t think it came in early enough to cause any yield drag. Ears are still super solid they’re not chaffy or anything and I think one of my favorite parts is the kernel size. These kernels are just absolutely massive in here. This corn is about 20 % moisture, 112 day corn dried down very nice.
This was planted probably about the 12th or 13th of May, so it’s had some time to dry down, but compared to other corn moistures that I’ve heard around it’s dried down pretty well.
It has a good drought tolerance so this year when we had that dry period in June and July, and then we had a dry period there starting at the end of August all the way through September this one was still able to perform for us. Really happy with it going in the mid -to -upper 200 right now. We’re just breaking this field open, so we’ll see where we end up, but just kind of wanted to show you guys what we were shelling today and we’ll see you next time out in the field.
