Hey everybody out here with some not very great smelling things today. You may wonder why I’m standing beside a pile of manure and a pile of shavings from our local county fair. Well, it’s one of our new projects.
We’re going to try here at EZ Custom Ag to make our own compost, at least here for the farm. As you know from our other videos in our website that we’re very into soil biology and trying to promote good soil structure, and just regenerative agriculture in general. Well, something that came to our attention, going through some of the different websites that we go through, is the soil food web that doctor Elaine Ingram puts on, and we are going through her course.
We’ve understood a little bit more about what we’re doing and how to do a better job of not only farming, but taking care of the soil that we have. Our plan is to combine some of this manure with some of these shavings, getting them the right moisture, mixing them down, and creating a compost that we can put on our fields this fall to help the crop grow for 2024.
This is a new project for us and we’ll keep you guys in the loop on how it’s going. It might be something you want to try for yourself. See you guys next time out in the field.
